Dell sure does have a lot of hardware problems
A common problem with their, um, less than great MPT device:

The machine is now essentially dead, the scsi controller has pretty much locked up.
It’ll recover a bit sometimes, but the machine is never really back in a working state until it’s power cycled.
No real help unfortunately, but at least this is here for someone else who searches on google for this frustrating problem.
