Attempting to fix ivtv errors
I’m using 2 pvr 250 cards in my mythtv setup, and every once in a while I get a weird corruption thing in the video and audio where it stutters for a second, then the audio is all oddly jerky for the rest of the recording, it’s like 200ms or so is missing from every second. You can understand the audio, but it’s really annoying to listen to. This happens in maybe 1 of every 20 recordings.
So, to try and get away from it, I upgraded to ivtv 0.4.0. It seems to have gotten rid of that specific problem, but I’m getting a lot more of a different one, where the audio and video both skip for 5-10s somewhere around the 4 minute mark of a show. The show is lost during that time, but it doesn’t affect things after.
I’m also getting this in the logs again:
ivtv0 warning: ENC Stream 0 OVERFLOW #0: Stealing a Buffer, 512 currently allocated
which I used to get with some earlier ones (there’s many repeats of lines similar to the one above, generally lasting for just a few seconds. I’m thinking it’s related to the above problem.
In the past I’ve seen that it may be related to VBI (closed captioning?) and references to turning it off, but no specific instructions on how to do so.
I found something related to adjusting the mpeg buffer sizes, so I’m going to do that. Next after that is trying to find out more info about VBI stuff, then I’m going to revert.
