I am food delivery cursed.

We order delivery fairly often because we’re lazy, and since we buy fancy food at the store it doesn’t end up being that much more expensive anyway.

There’s a pretty limited selection we order from: Pagliacci, Zeeks, Chaiyo, and Snappy Dragon. (pizza, pizza, thai, chinese).

They all have various problems (usually the wrong stuff being delivered), but it’s two nights in a row now.

Last night we ordered from Zeek’s: a pizza, a salad, and 4 cokes. We always ask for the pizza to be well done, because it’s better that way (and with laura being pregnant, it’s even more important that salami is cooked again). I was already a little annoyed with them, because 75% of the time they deliver, they want my credit card so they can do a rub of it on the receipt. I think it’s pretty annoying that they can’t figure out I’m a regular customer, in a nice house, that’s been buying pizza from them for 3 years without ever charging back. So, I actually was proactive and filled in their comment section on the website and said:

Over the past 3 years I’ve ordered over $1000 worth of pizza from you. It’s all been delivered to the same place, a nice house, and paid for with the same credit card. It would be nice if you could figure out a way to let drivers know about repeat customers, so that they didn’t have to verify the card every time. I realize that it’s not the driver’s fault, since any individual driver may not have delivered pizza to me very many times, but it’s a little bit insulting to not have a business recognize their long term customers.

The drivers (and the phone people when I talk to them) are always great and friendly about it, I’m very happy with the pizza and the service, it’d just be nice if you could integrate “known” accounts into your system somehow so I didn’t essentially get “carded” every time I order pizza.

I was pretty proud of myself for not just being annoyed at home, and submitted the comment.

I got a mysql error. Who knows if it even submitted.

So, I let it go, figuring they’ll contact me if they want to talk about it, otherwise, eh, whatever.

The food arrives, and there’s only 2 cokes. I had been waffling on whether I wanted 2 or 4, I thought maybe I had gotten 2 by accident. But no, the receipt said 4. Laura called them, and it took like 2 minutes of being on hold before the guy came back and said “We can send you a $5 gift certificate”. She said “we just want our coke”. They said they’d bring it over.

About 30 minutes later, the same driver was back with the cokes in a bag. He held them out to me, I said thanks, he just turned away without saying anything. I had even given a $5 tip for the food, and I didn’t even get a “sorry” or anything.

The pizza wasn’t well done either, kinda underdone really.

I think I’m done with Zeek’s for a while.

So, tonight we ordered from Snappy Dragon, and the guy showed up and gave me what seemed like a large bag of food and said “$30″ and points to the amount on the receipt, which is weird because I had given them my card number, he should just be handing me something to sign. I said “what?” and looked at him, he stared at me for a second and said “wrong bag! sorry, wrong bag!” and ran up the path to the stairs, got in his car, and drove away.

Someone came back with our food in about 20 minutes, and he just handed me the food. I said “I need to pay”, he said that the “other guy” had the credit card receipt. I said I needed to tip, he said no need to tip. I didn’t have any cash on me, so I said I’d get them next time.

They’ve always been much better than Zeek’s about fixing their problems, but still, why do I constantly have delivery problems, it’s really not that complicated.
