Sorbs (sorbs.net) blocking newegg
Although they’re nowhere near as bad as spews in terms of attitude, SORBS is still pretty arrogant and annoying in their policies and implementation.
I wanted to buy something from newegg today, so I went to the site, and of course couldn’t remember whatever random thing I had used as a password, so I did the “email password reminder” thing. It said (amusingly enough): “Your password has now been sent to your email address at Internet speed.” After 15-20 minutes of no email, I decided to check the logs, and it was being blocked because of a sorbs check. I went and checked and it was indeed being blocked, this entire netblock is:
Netblock: 204.14.208.0/21 (204.14.208.0-204.14.215.255)
Record Created: Thu May 11 19:13:27 2006 GMT
Record Updated: Thu May 11 19:13:27 2006 GMT
Additional Information: [MU] Dynamic/Generic IP/rDNS address, use your ISPs mail server or get rDNS set to indicate static assignment.
Of course, the IP in question does actually have a reverse:
marmoset@chupacabra:~$ host 204.14.213.146
146.213.14.204.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer smtp05.newegg.com.
marmoset@chupacabra:~$
So many people are just stuck at this point, and unable to get email from newegg. Sucks to be them I guess.
